Since 1985, the SDTS, S.A. corporation and it's owner-developer, Bertrand Lesne, has been responsible for much of the construction and growth of modern-day Las Galeras. Lesne is the Samana area's first large-scale, land developer and his project, the Las Galeras Beach Resort, encompasses much of the original village's oceanfront and adjoining land, a parcel of over 138,000 square meters, about 31 acres.
With land being reasonably priced then (as it still is today), early buyers of lots within the Resort area knew that one day Las Galeras would not only become more popular as a tourist destination but still retain it's residential appeal as a little, seaside fishing community. Today, commercial development and residential areas peacefully coexist as the fruition of a carefully planned, environmentally friendly community and correspondingly, the value of property investment has increased significantly.
Other services offered include absentee-owner property management and rental assistance with houses for rent from $20 USD per day, in-house architectural design and custom construction services. Structures designed and built over the years include a number of private and rental homes, a commercial plaza, a hotel and a restaurant with attached store. All of these structures remain sound and are currently in use today.
Interior layouts can vary as only an innovative, custom builder can provide and affords the home owner an easy and comfortable living within the tropical environment. Despite the rigors of our sunny climes, the interiors of these houses can be bright and airy or as cool and comfortable as the owner desires.
