Las Terrenas  With continued growth being an area staple with more private and commercial accommodations under construction, the big news is the large all-inclusive resort, the Guatapanal, in the very western part of the Playa Coson area.  This resort has been quietly under construction for some time and was slated to open its doors this past November.  However, a rumor circulating had a large resort under construction come under fire by government authorities and cease construction for environmental violations.  But it is not known if this was the resort cited as several are reported to be under construction on the peninsula.  A late report from a German visitor indicates that the Guatapanal is now open.  Nothing more about other resorts and hotels under construction has been heard by Samana Net and when further information becomes available, it will be reported. .
