With more than 50 restaurants and bars in mostly beachfront locations, good food and exciting nightlife is everywhere. Although French and Italian cuisine is predominant, most menus are international and native Dominican specialties can be found almost anywhere. With over 15 miles of deserted, sandy beaches stretching from east of El Portillo to west of Playa Coson, getting a golden suntan is a snap! Follow these directions carefully: Spread your towel on your own piece of the sandy beach and apply lotion liberally. Occasionally roll over to toast your other side in the luxuriant, tropical sun. Although officially not condoned, topless sunbathing is tolerated, especially on the less-populated stretches of beach.
