   Usually starting in January and lasting until late March, Samana's humpback whales return every year to our tropical waters. Tours originate from Samana and Las Galeras (and several bayside locations in between) and from Las Terrenas.

 On January 16 2007, a short strike by boat operators delay the start of the "Whale Watching" season by a few days. As of January 25 2007, the matters has been settle and visitors are welcome to take the tours boats. Only licence boats are permited in Samana Bay for this season and the Dominican Navy will enforce this rules.
