As with much of the world's mountainous terrain, Samana peninsula is fortunate to have a number of picturesque waterfalls.
Although most are small and are away from the populated areas, several may be easily reached and are popular tour destinations.
The grand one is: El Limón Waterfall, localy known as Cascada El Limón or Salto del Limón
The shortest routes lead from Arroyo Surdido, and Rancho Español, the longest from El Café and El Limón.(See map)
Bring your camera for some nice pictures of the scenery and your bathing suit for a refreshing swim in the natural pool.
Some of the tour operators offer lunch or snacks as part of the excursion package.
Horses or mules are provided by the tour operators or you may walk in although this is NOT recommended without a paid guide. Parada Nega offer, hike with a guide, option.
Private property must be crossed and a fee is involved.
In addition to tours originating from many north coast and Peninsula locations(check with your hotel), roadside tour operators (paradas) may be found in the village of El Limón and along the El Limón Road to Samana. Here is a useful map, and a web site dedicated to El Limón worth visiting.
