Known
for their extensive use of thick, rich sauces, Dominican cooking revolves
around the basics. In addition to beans and rice as a dietary staple, at a
typical meal you will find yami, yucca, platinos, and a host of other
vegetables with chicken, pork or fish as the main course. Also served are
beef, goat and various seafoods including lobster, shrimp, crab, conch
(lambi) and octopus. And for a snack in between meals, munch on luscious
mangoes, pineapple, bananas, guava, chinola, and "coco frio"- fresh,
chilled, still-in-the-shell coconut milk. Nutritious, wholesome foods are
everywhere. Junkfood junkies beware, you'll starve on this
island! Las Galeras International Cuisine: Restaurants are located in the following hotels: Club Bonito, "Nicole Oceanview Restaurant" in el Marinique, La Playita, Villa Marina and Villa Serena. In addition there are several more restaurants located in the village on the main street. Dominican Specialities: Several sit-down
Dominican restaurants are in the village, also on the main street. In
addition, there are little food stands along the road, and at the end of
the road at the main beach is a rustic, little open-air restaurant where
fresh lobster and fish can be eaten. Las Terrenas International Cuisine: Restaurants . Dominican Specialities: Samana International Cuisine: Restaurants : Dominican Specialities: . Restaurant at Sanchez International Cuisine: Restaurants
